Studio Policy

Attendance

Your lesson begins at the scheduled time. Please call or text if you know that you are going to be late—I will wait for you, but additional time will NOT be given. If I have not heard from you and you are more than 10 minutes (for 30-minute sessions) or 15 minutes (for 45- and 60-minute sessions) late, you will forfeit your session AND be charged for it. To summarize, please be on time and please communicate with me!

Make-Ups and No-Shows

If you have a conflict with your scheduled lesson time, I am happy to offer a make-up lesson as long as you communicate with me sooner than 24 hours before the missed lesson. Make-up lessons will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time. No make-up lessons will be given with less than 24 hours notice. I allow ONE make-up per semester with less than 24 hours notice FOR ILLNESS ONLY. Please do not abuse this policy.

No-shows and last-minute cancellations will be charged for the full amount of the lesson. No exceptions. More than 3 no-shows or last-minute cancellations, except in documented emergency situations, will result in the discontinuation of lessons. I will respect your time; please respect mine.

Practicing

Consistent home practice will determine and solidify your success in lessons. There is a limit to the skills that I can teach you if you do not put them into practice at home. I will advise at your first lesson the number and length of home sessions that I think is appropriate for your or your child’s skill level. As lessons continue, expect these times to increase! I will continue to guide you through the process on a case-by-case basis and encourage you or your child to keep a journal of practice at home. Make it part of your daily routine as soon as possible!

Materials

All students will be required to purchase materials to aid in lessons. These purchases vary in price and frequency. I will always try to find the most cost-effective materials for you to purchase, and materials purchases will not be excessive. Additionally, all students should bring a blank notebook to EVERY lesson. This is where weekly assignments and summaries will be recorded and it can double as a home practice journal! All assigned materials are to be brought to every lesson.
